The Department of Transport Management (DOTM) has announced the temporary shutdown of its Electronic Driving License (EDL) and online application portal (applydlnew.dotm.gov.np) due to technical problems encountered at its central Data Center.
According to the official notice, the systems— which had been operating only partially since November 2, 2025—have now been fully suspended from today. DOTM stated that the services will remain offline until the department issues another update, urging the public to stay informed through official channels.
This service disruption comes at a time when the department has been working to stabilize its digital infrastructure after a series of interruptions.

The Department of Transport Management (DOTM) had earlier partially resumed its online services following shutdowns caused during the Gen-Z movement on September 8–9, 2025. During that period, both the Electronic Driving License (EDL) system and the Vehicle Registration System (VRS)were halted nationwide due to security and operational complications.
From November 2, DOTM gradually restored these digital services across its Transport Management Offices in the Kathmandu Valley, enabling applicants to resume online form submissions, driving license services, and vehicle-related processes.
With the new technical shutdown, aspiring license applicants and renewal seekers will face delays once again. DOTM has yet to announce a timeline for full system restoration, creating uncertainty for thousands of users who rely on digital services.
The department has assured that further updates will be provided as soon as the technical issues are resolved.
